"There is nothing," Tamara finally declared, defeated after what felt like an hour of searching Big Ben and the associated portal. None of us were really ready for it after that long ass drive, but we got down to business as best we could. "Apart from the graffiti with Halloween's date on it, there's nothing to worry about here. The portal might as well be dead. The harem that came here before us did a kick ass job."

"So, what do we do?" I asked curiously. "I've taken a picture of the graffiti and emailed it to the Academy with a report that we haven't found anything, but they probably already know about this, right? I don't think it's new information."

"I think we go to the Standing Stones, right?" Jack agreed. "Then on to Conway Castle if we don't find anything there. We need to keep on moving."

I sighed heavily and nodded. "Yeah, I think you're right. London doesn't have that bad feeling about it, does it? There isn't the same negative energy there that I felt in Scotland. I think it might be time for us to keep moving."

Tamara breathed in deep. "Yeah, I know what you mean. It doesn't feel all negative. The magic is keeping the demons and the evil away from here."

"So, we move?" I checked. "Continue on with our mission."

"Looks like it." Tamara nodded with a subdued smile curling up on her lips. "Let's get a move on, before we change our mindS."

None of us were enthusiastic about this, but we all walked back to the car to start on with the next part of the trip. Ashton chucked the keys over to me because it was my turn to drive. I wasn't exactly looking forward to finding anything, because that would lead us to danger, but at the same time, if we didn't find anything, then that meant we'd wasted the whole day when we could have been studying the tome some more.

We were really getting somewhere with that one, and I wanted to know more about what we were reading, what we were learning––just in case it’s useful to us when it comes time to defend the world from the demons.
